Umali's Dynasty Beats Joson Dynasty

The recently held general poll automated election by COMELEC's saw Umalis of Nueva Ecija province beating the Josons by a wide margin. The Umalis captured the office of the provincial governor and vice governor, the provincial council by a majority of 8 to 2.

In the city and municipal level, the Josons proved they are still a political force to reckon with, maintaining their traditional local bailiwicks, Josie Joson won over Renator Diaz as representative of the 1st District of the province replacing her brother-in-law Edno Joson. Edno Joson's son Rey Joson was one of two board members who won for Joson's BALANE party. Boyet Joson prevailed over retired Police Col. Peter Hizon as mayor of Quezon, their hometown.

Boyito Dizon, son-in-law of Rep. Edno Joson, retained as mayor of Guimba,  Arvin Salonga, hardly conquered his tough rival former mayor Balagtas of San Antonio.

Aside the Joson clan who won some of their loyal political allies maintained their hold of their position, this includes, Mayor Gamilla of Bongabon; Mayor Capinpin of Palayan City; Mayor Angeles of Santa Rosa; and Mayor Elan Nagaño of San Leonardo.

With almost majority in all section of the provincial political post controlled by the Umalis it is expected by their constituent that they will now deliver their long promise of overall political and economic development for the people and province of Nueva Ecija.

The bizarre, disturbing and hilarious thing about the son of Ninoy and Cory

Dear Noynoy - from Tomcat

Dear Noynoy:

We were classmates at the Ateneo and I have no doubt that you would remember me even if we were not close. Hint: I was one of those who ribbed you about the low grade that Father Kreutz gave you in math because you could never seem to get your fractions right. Remember going ballistic over that ribbing? [Reverend Wiliam “Bill” Kreutz, SJ, is a long-time Ateneo teacher from New York who founded the Jesuit Volunteers of the Philippines—JR. All subsequent bracketed phrases are mine.

Anyway, reading the psychological report that was posted on the Internet a few days ago certainly made me remember you. I heard you say on the news that the report was fake but you did admit that there were some things in it that were true. “Part truths” I think were your exact words. It fascinated me enough to want to read the report carefully to check out which were those things that were true.

Obvious things first, those facts that any of our classmates can confirm if asked. One of these is, as the report says, you have a labile disorder. This is whole truth. Even Father Gorospe would be distracted by your drooling during our oral exams. [The late Reverend Vitaliano Gorospe, SJ, was connected for a long time with the Ateneo Theology Department.] Father Ferriols, who made a point of showing he didn’t like you, would make side comments about it that led your classmates to give you the nickname “Cooper,” a reference to Cupertino school where we would teach Catechism to retarded children. I, however, never called you Cooper. [Reverend Roque Ferriols, SJ, taught Filipino Philosophy at Ateneo.

The report says that you have a “major depressive disorder.” Well, I honestly don’t know if that is true. What I do know is that in school you were very temperamental and had sudden mood swings. Isang minuto, nakikikain ka kay Brudda Francis, maya’t maya nagagalit ka na. Many of our classmates can attest to witnessing scenes like this.

The report said that you used to go with your mom to see Dr. Manuel Escudero. That is a whole truth. I remember seeing you at Tito Maning’s high-rise apartment on Roxas Boulevard when we were still kids. Tito Maning was a consultant with the WHO here in Manila but he was also a psychiatrist who treated only the high society people in Manila. Even Imelda Marcos was his patient. Unfortunately, so was my mom who suffered from insecurities due to my dad’s numerous infidelities.

Tito Maning’s wife, Tita Jo, was a very good artist who had a couple of exhibits of her work before they left Manila for good a few years after martial law was declared. They lived in Topeka, Kansas. After they left, I kept a correspondence for a while with their very cute daughter Nina who I am sure you remember. I had such a crush on her. Maybe you did too. She used to talk to us “little folk” in the sala of their apartment while the “big folk” would lock themselves in the room and discuss “big folk” matters. She wanted to go to ballet school or some dance school which she did, I think, and I eventually lost track of her.

About your smoking marijuana, I also can’t say if that is wholly true. What I do know is that you would try to tag along with a group of students that would hang out with Ma’am Gloria Arroyo. Yes, President Arroyo herself.

Mga students niya sa Economics. She was always surrounded by bright and handsome students kaya hindi ka pinapansin. Pati si Ma’am Placer, she never gave you the time of day kasi people said you were “medyo weird” and your grades were mababa per her standards.

Pero, you still tried to hang out with those guys. Trying hard to belong ba. I know those guys would drink na kasama pa si Miss Rosales na pag lasing na, kumakanta ng Spanish songs in Spanish. They would drink dozens of bottles of beer at Shakey’s Katipunan because Mrs. Ramos (our Spanish teacher in case you don’t remember) owned the restaurant. This group was also known to also smoke joints in the college auditorium, up in the closed space where the spotlights were. So, if you were hanging out with them then, you were probably also smoking marijuana too.

The report said you had a flight attendant girlfriend. This is another whole truth. I will not mention her name here to protect her but she was a PAL stewardess. I found out about this because I was on a flight with Father Samson [probably Ateneo de Davao president Reverend Antonio S. Samson] once and she was the one who seated us. When she found out we were from Ateneo, she introduced herself and said she was the girl friend of an Atenean and mentioned your name.

Father Samson then asked jokingly if you were a good boyfriend to her. She shrugged and said you were “okay” but she was bothered because you were “too conservative.” You didn’t even like to kiss her daw because you were saving her for the wedding night. And you insisted that she dress very conservatively. Jealous boyfriend ka daw. No wonder that relationship ended. Maybe that’s why you got so depressed over it.

About the report. I know that [Ateneo-based Jesuit psychologist Reverend] Tito Caluag is one of your best friends. His group of “friends” are some of the richest and most influential people in the country today. I know that you used to frequently visit his home. He hosts get-togethers where things that are too esoteric for me are the subjects of discussion. At one time, this group of yours even discussed the ousting of [Ateneo president] Father [Bienvenido] Nebres because Tito Caluag had his own ideas on how Ateneo should be run. Maybe your closeness to him is why he was the one you went to when you were depressed and why he was the one who handled your case and signed your psychological report. To keep things quiet.

But I confess I actually don’t know. I do know that Tito Caluag was at one time your sister Kris’ father confessor. He may not be a very trustworthy father confessor, though, because many have heard him say aloud that “walang ginawa si Kris Aquino dito sa Ateneo kundi habulin si Alvin Patrimonio at mag-emote sa quadrangle”.

Anyway, yun muna. Good luck on your presidential run. If you become president of the Philippines, that would be really something, huh? From “Cooper” to “Mr. President” when brighter and more scheming Ateneans like Mar Roxas and Dick Gordon have not been able to make it is an achievement that Ripley should feature.

Your old friend,

Tomcat

Bizarre because there are people who knew his psychological well-being. Disturbing, taking into account that he is  obsessed to become the president of the Republic of the Philippines and hilarious because we will have a psychotic president again the likes of Hitler and Arroyo.

An Erap-Binay Presidency

With all honesty of a true person and a leader, Pres. Erap Estrada declares he will serve only the remaining years of his snatched presidency. He assures the people that the 2010 presidency will be an Erap and Binay presidency. They will complement each other unlike what his treasonous former vice president Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo did to him in 2001.

Mrs. Arroyo conspired with the elite of the society, the Catholic church, opportunist traditional politicians, military and police generals to oust the legitimate sitting president Estrada.

With Makati City mayor Jejomar "Jojo" Binay, street parliamentarian, anti-dictator, prominent human rights lawyer and a reserve military colonel, on Pres. Estrada's side is a guarantee that there will be no more repeat of any kind of people's power, whether led by the Catholic church, the elite of the society or opportunist military and police generals. As both Estrada and Binay with compensate each other in the governance of the country's affair and any coup d'etat will thwarted instantaneously and nip in the buds.

US court orders Michael Ray Aquino's extradition

abs-cbnNEWS.com | 03/05/2010 9:04 PM

MANILA, Philippines - A US court on Thursday (Friday in Manila) has granted the request of the Philippine government to extradite former police official Michael Ray Aquino in connection with the Bubby Dacer-Emmanuel Corbito double murder case.

The 24-page extradition order was issued by Judge Esther Salas of the US District Court of New Jersey in Newark.

The order junked Aquino's objections to the extradition request and said all documents submitted by the Philippine government conformed to the November 22, 1996 RP-US extradition treaty.

Aquino, a former member of the now defunct Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force (PAOCTF) is charged with conspiring with other individuals in the investigation and murder of Dacer and Corbito more than nine years ago.

Aquino and another police official, Cezar Mancao, fled to the United States allegedly upon the instructions of Sen. Panfilo Lacson to escape prosecution. Lacson has been in hiding since January this year after being implicated in the murders.

US Military Contractor Hires Pinay Prostitutes

An unidentified Filipina is reportedly at the center of a new federal investigation against Blackwater, the controversial private military company.

Two former employees – husband and wife Brad and Melan Davis – are suing Blackwater under the False Claims Act, a federal law that allows civilians to file charges against federal contractors.

The couple alleged that Blackwater (now known as Xe Services LLC) kept an unidentified Filipina prostitute in the payroll for a State Department contract in Afghanistan.

The North Carolina-based company allegedly charged the government for her time working for Blackwater male employees in Kabul.

The alleged prostitute's salary was categorized as part of the company's “Morale Welfare Recreation” expenses.  Read more >>>

THE GREAT AMERICAN DREAM

Confessions of a 'couch surfer'

NEW YORK - Alice Katie Dugan is a jobless, homeless New Yorker. But this crisis in her life has led her to an innovative way to keep a roof above her head—actually, several roofs.

“A couch surfer to me is somebody who doesn’t have a permanent place to stay and has to result to staying with friends or family and they end up staying on a couch,” Dugan explained.

Dugan lost her job more than 4 months ago. She can’t afford an apartment anymore, so she started couch surfing, staying at one friend’s place after another for free.

Recently, a friend agreed for her to couch surf at his luxury high rise apartment building in Long Island. US$600 a month gets her the couch and closet space. Not a bad deal, she says, considering she could never have afforded a luxury apartment.

“The benefit is being able to stay in a very nice facility that might have amenities like a pool or a gym and stuff like that,” Dugan said. “Of course, there’s clean kitchens, nice bathrooms, and it’s fully furnished.”

The biggest drawback to couch surfing, Dugan says, is the complete loss of privacy.

“You don’t have your privacy, they don’t have their privacy. It’s a necessary evil.”

In the meantime, Dugan has been working gigs as a model, actress and odd jobs here and there until she finds a full time job.

“It’s been really hard looking for a job and I’m actually very lucky. I’ve been only searching for about 4 months lately and I’ve been getting several interviews every week,” Dugan said.

Dugan says she does not intend to surf couches for long, and as she searches for a new job, her biggest motivation is to have her own comfy bed in her own bedroom.

NPO Ballots for ARMM No COMELEC Markings

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez says security markings of ballots for ARMM is not necessary as they have already placed five (5) other security markings. The anti-election cheating group, Kontra Daya on the other side suggested that all the ballots printed by NPO without the said markings should be burned so as not to be used for cheating.

ARMM under Gov. Zaldy Ampatuan, an Arroyo ally and one of the accused in the Maguindanao massacre, is the most controversial cheating capital of the Arroyo regime since Mrs. Arroyo's 2004 election against FPJ.

Election is telling people what they want to hear

Philippine presidential debate is a sign of desperation and of wanting to win at all costs. Sacrificing the truth; making impossible and empty promises in exchange for political gains is the sentiment of former president and presidential candidate himself Joseph Estrada.

For Pres. Estrada, the intellectually limiting  emotional manipulations is very dangerous in order to get ahead in the campaign and in the surveys . This  is indeed unfair for the people, to receive such hypocrisy, false piety and insensitive party lines.

Televised public forums, or what has Deputy Presidential Spokeman Ricardo Saludo termed as their “high grounds” only shows that the presidential candidates are giving the public clearer ideas about their true political colors shaded by their educations, associations, qualifications and stage managed experiences.

Nowadays, the public is finally paying attention to the scholarly deceptive practices of creating political platforms and programs of candidates of the outmoded, outdated, obsolete of the old and traditional political parties of the social elite. They are indeed very well informed now.

JOSON OF NUEVA ECIJA GOES VILLAR

Rep. Edno Joson: Let’s try Villar another pro-poor president

Former President Joseph Estrada was cheered and warmly welcomed when he went around last Thursday, February 18, 2010 in the vote-rich province of Nueva Ecija in his mission to re-take Malacañang.

“Sino’ng presidente ang gustong halikan ni Ai-ai de las Alas?” Estrada’s political adviser Ernesto Maceda asked the crowd at the plaza of Muñoz City.
“Si Erap!” the crowd responded.

“Sino’ng presidente ang gustong halikan ni Mommy Dionisia?” he asked again.
“Si Erap!”

A very convincing warm welcome that will likely guarantee another Estrada landslide win in Nueva Ecija like what he did in the 1998 presidential race.

Nueva Ecija today has no more well-entrenched political family that can carry any national candidates—the Josons—ousted in 2007 election is inclined to support the well-funded Nacionalista Party (NP) presidential bet Manuel Villar Jr., who also fashions himself as a pro-poor candidate.

Leaning toward Villa

Nueva Ecija 1st Dist. Rep. Eduardo Nonato Joson was reportedly declared that their family's local party, the Bagong Lakas ng Nueva Ecija, has yet to endorse a presidential candidate, and that they are leaning toward Villar.

“Familiarity breeds contempt. So bagong dugo na tayo at baka sakaling may pag-asa [ang] mahihirap (Let’s go for new blood who might really fulfill the hopes of the poor), Edno said of Estrada.”

Estrada is not bothered by this development, what's more is that his other local leaders aside the Josons told him that they believe Novo Ecijanos will 100% vote for Erap the second time.

Estrada's entourage was observed by local political analyst avoiding the Josons in their Thursday sorties in Nueva Ecija, a province with 1.187 million registered voters as of March 2009.

Speculations were proven when the former president said there’s no reason for him to link up with the Josons after former Gov. Tomas Joson, who campaigned for him in 1998, with treachery went over to the side of President Arroyo in the 2004 presidential elections. Estrada’s best friend, actor Fernando Poe Jr., was running against Arroyo at the time.

“Me and FPJ are like brothers. ’Pag sinaktan mo siya, para mo na rin akong sinaktan (If you hurt him, it’s like hurting me, too),” Estrada said.

Problem of Novo Ecijanos in PMP

The Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) cannot count or expect from their only Novo Ecijano candidate to help them court voters for the former president. One of their guest senatorial candidates, JV Bautista of the group Sanlakas, although a native of Guimba town, he is not admired by Novo Ecijanos for being bigheaded and boorish attitude

The one that can help is Sen. Jinggoy Estrada’s chief of staff, Simeon Garcia, is a former representative of the 2nd district of Nueva Ecija.

While in the 4th district, PMP is fielding former Jaen Mayor Prospero Antonio Esquivel for congressman, against its long-time nemesis, the re-electionist Rep. Rodolfo Antonino uncle of Gen. Santos Rep. Antonino of Mindanao.

Estrada believed that in spite of Tomas Josons’ support for Arroyo in 2004, his friend Poe still won in the province by a wide margin. Arroyo got 160, 438 votes, while Poe had 476,220 votes.

Estrada didn’t mention that in 2004, Gov. Tomas Joson’s brother, Vice Gov. Eduardo Joson IV, stood by Poe and acted as coordinator of the latter’s Koalisyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino while their other brother Rep. Edno Joson went all out for Sen. Ping Lacson and ran as its senatorial candidate.

Estrada didn’t acknowledge either that, in 2004, his senatorial candidates—his son Jinggoy Estrada, Juan Ponce Enrile, and Ernesto Maceda were the one's who asked for the support of Tomas Joson for a share of Nueva Ecija’s vote.

FG still alive after Mandaluyong road accident

Mike Arroyo Still Alive

News reported First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo was not injured seriously after the car he was riding on his way to a round of golf at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club figured in a road accident in Mandaluyong City in the early morning of Wednesday, February 17, 2010.

Mike Arroyo was reportedly had a bump on his head when his sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into a post to avoid an oncoming vehicle.

Mr. Arroyo underwent a major heart surgery a few years ago and is now undergoing rehabilitation. He has stayed away from the media spotlight after he was dragged into a number of billions of pesos corruption controversies.

Malacañang through newly appointed Press Secretary Crispulo Icban Jr. confirmed that Mr. Arroyo was involved in a vehicular accident and assured the nation that Mrs. Arroyo’s husband has no serious head injury.

Icban also said Mr. Arroyo appeared calm and healthy after undergoing a checkup at St. Luke's hospital immediately following the road mishap.

Gloria Arroyo, who was immediately informed about the car accident, was reportedly pleased over the safety of her husband, said one Palace official.

Palace officials were only informed by the palace press about the road accident and unaware of the condition of Mike Arroyo immediately after the mishap.

Sen. Chiz Escudero: Pres. Gloria Arroyo should go to jail

Known presidential aspirants yesterday said they will prosecute current President Arroyo and work to send her to jail, but only if there is evidence that she has illegally enriched herself while in power and position.

Speaking before the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Leaders Forum of the United Nations and the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (Focap) in Makati City, former President Joseph Estrada, Senators Francis Escudero and Richard Gordon, environmentalist Nick Perlas, and Olongapo City Councilor John Carlos de los Reyes said they will not block attempts to prosecute Mrs. Arroyo and other alleged corrupt officials who served her administration for any wrongdoing.

“If there is an order to file an information for a non-bailable offense, or if she is convicted by final judgment, and should therefore go to jail, the next president must simply do his job to implement the law and put her in jail,” said Escudero.

Poll automation pitfall: Smartmatic subcontractoring privileges

Smartmatic picks new subcontractor for PCOS machines

Is it a violation of the poll automation contract?

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has ordered Smartmatic-Total Information Management (TIM) to explain its contract with a Shanghai-based company after the winning consortium informed the government about a change in the firm that will produce the poll automation machines.

Smartmatic-TIM, which bagged the project to modernize the May 2010 polls, appears to have subcontracted to yet another firm the order to manufacture the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines.

It informed the Comelec this week that Qisdi, an electronics firm, will now be manufacturing the machines under the supervision of its subsidiary, Taiwan-based Jarl-tech.

In the bidding to automate the polls, one of the credentials presented by the Barbados-based Smartmatic was that Jarl-tech would manufacture the PCOS machines. In its website, Smartmatic said it has been working with Jarl-tech since 2004.

Other bidders, however, questioned the inclusion of a third party, Jarl-tech, to the poll automation project, but Comelec still awarded the project to Smartmatic.

There is no doubt why people and opposition leaders wary about poll automation. First,  Smartmatic subcontracted the delivery of PCOS machines to a forwarding firm, To Go, owned by the Aboitiz family that is closely identified with the First Family.

Second, Smartmatic is now transferring or picking a new subcontractor from the land of the controversial multi-million dollar Arroyo government contractor, the ZTE National Broadband.

    What's next then?
